Trouble In Saturn Vue P0C02 Possible Cause

By far the most common cause of this Saturn Vue P0C02 code is from worn or defective transmission shifter components. Other causes may include a defective range sensor, open, shorted, corroded, or otherwise damaged wiring and/or electrical connectors.

Common Symptoms For Saturn Vue P0C02

  1. However, leaks that originate from the front seal (behind the torque converter) will likely require removal of the transmission, at which time you may want to consider a transmission rebuild if the mileage dictates. If the transmission appears to be in good working order and doesn't appear to be overheating, suspect a defective input or output speed sensor
  2. Test the wiring and connectors at the fuel shutoff valve to make sure that voltage and ground readings are near battery voltage
  3. Pay particular attention to wiring and connectors that have been contaminated due to engine oil or transmission fluid leaks, burned on hot exhaust pipes, or damaged due to road debris. Inconsistencies between the input and output speed sensor readings may be interpreted by the PCM as a transmission friction element application malfunction
  4. The sensor is of the electro magnetic design and uses a reluctor ring (or a specialized set of splines) on the input shaft as reference points

Saturn Vue P0C02 Troubleshooting

Having one of the signs of a bad gasket is usually not enough to prove a failure of a gasket, but multiple symptoms are most likely the result of gasket failure. It is advisable to have the vehicle driven as little as possible whenever the symptoms occur. Depending on the symptoms, either have the gasket replaced or repaired.
The cost of replacing a gasket usually varies from one mechanic to the other. Replacing a gasket is quite expensive in modern engines due to their location and the amount of labor that is required to replace them. Saturn Vue P0C02 OBD2 reports a sensor fault, replacement of the sensor is unlikely to resolve the underlying problem. The fault is most likely to be caused by the systems that the sensor is monitoring, but might even be caused by the wiring to the sensor itself.
